Keeping the customer’s comfort in their minds, Apple has brought iPhone 7 model with a bunch of facilities. The microphone is one of them. They have tried to come up with the best output of audio input that it receives. That’s why it’s different and unique.  Generally, we will see its two dual speakers and a microphone which gives so nice audio input and output.

• If you are using any cover for the phone, check whether it’s obstructing or not. 
• Try a few times more for checking whether the mic works or not. 
• Check whether the app you are using is given with the permission of the mic. For that simply follow: 
• Settings > Privacy > Microphone. Now, see the list of apps.
